Welcome to the Winter Adventure!

Snowen Sound Frolics is a month-long, family-friendly event celebrating the beauty, history, and community spirit of Owen Sound! Running throughout February, this exciting challenge invites you to explore the city, solve riddles, uncover hidden code words, and win amazing prizes. Whether you're trekking through scenic trails, visiting historical landmarks, or supporting local businesses, there’s something for everyone.

How It Works

  1. Weekly Themes: Every week in February, we’ll post a new set of riddles, clues, or challenges on our social media channels. These will guide you to a specific location in Owen Sound.

  2. Find the Check-In via QR code: Once you arrive at the location, look for the Snowen Sound Frolics sign. Each sign will have a location name with QR code.

  3. Snap a Selfie: Take a selfie with the sign to confirm you’ve visited the location.

  4. Post, Tag: Share your selfie on social media using the hashtag #SnowenSound to check in, earn entries and track your progress.

  5. Complete Challenges: Throughout the event, participate in bonus challenges, trivia games, and special Family Day weekend activities for extra entries into the prize draw.

  6. Win Prizes: Visit all the locations, solve all the riddles, and complete the challenges to enter the grand prize draw! You can also win weekly and surprise pop-up prizes.

How to Play

  1. Follow Us on Social Media: Stay updated with instructions on weekly themes, activities, riddles, bonus challenges, and prize announcements.

  2. Explore the City: Follow the weekly instructions to discover the various Owen Sound locations. From trails and parks to local shops and historical landmarks, each stop offers a unique experience.

  3. Participate in Special Bonus Challenges: Look for pop-up trivia posts, action-shot challenges, and other fun activities throughout the month... there may be something fun for Family Day weekend.... hint....hint...

Weekly Themes

Week 1: Snowen Sound Explorers

Focus on Owen Sound’s natural beauty by exploring parks, trails, and scenic lookouts. 

Week 2: Community Connections

Support local businesses! Discover hidden treasures in shops, bakeries, and cafés while solving riddles and completing in-store scavenger hunts.

Week 3: Heritage & Mystery

Delve into Owen Sound’s rich history. Visit historical landmarks and keep an eye out for a “mystery spot” challenge!

Week 4: Winter Wonders

Embrace winter fun with activities at various winter hot spots! Look for action challenges and special bonuses.

Family Day Weekend: Special Events

Join us February 15–17 for a jam-packed weekend of family fun! Highlights include:

  • Family Fun Stations: Participate in snowshoeing, snow art, and relay races at key locations.

  • City-Wide Scavenger Hunt: Solve clues to locate a hidden “Golden Ticket” for a special prize.

  • Family Trivia: Test your knowledge of Owen Sound’s history, nature, and fun facts to earn bonus points.

Prizes

  • Grand Prize: Complete all challenges and locations to be entered into the ultimate draw.

  • Golden Ticket Prize: Find the hidden ticket during the Family Day Weekend scavenger hunt.

  • Weekly Winners: Participate in weekly challenges for a chance to win exciting local prizes.

  • Ultimate SNowen Sound Frolicker Title: Solve every riddle, visit every location, and complete all bonus challenges to earn the prestigious title and a special reward.

Do I need to pay to participate?
No, Snowen Sound Frolics is free and open to everyone!

Can I participate as a family or team?
Yes! Families, friends, and teams are encouraged to participate together.

What if I don’t use social media?
You can still participate! Check the SNOWen Sound Frolics webpage (you are here!) Submit your selfies and code words via email to tourism@owensound.ca.

Do I need to complete every challenge?
No, but the more you complete, the more entries you earn for prizes.
