Saturday Sept. 26 , 1-4pm Sunday Sept 27, 10 - 3pm In this workshop, students will (lovingly) take apart an old book, saving the covers and any interesting features, and reincorporate them into a durable and flexible sketchbook/journal. Before the course, go on a book hunt: find one or two "old books" - they must be hardcover books and must fall between the following sizes so the new blank pages can fit: A4 size (8" w x 11" h) A5 size (5.8" w x 8.3" h) A6 size (4.1" w x 5.8" h) Old books with decorative covers can be quite fun to work with so check out the classic literature sections!

On Saturday, we'll deconstruct your chosen book and plan the reassembly. On Sunday, we will sew a new set of blank pages to be incorporated and create hinges to attach the covers. You'll have the option to add decorative "interventions" such as ink, gold embossing, or stencils to complete your book. You'll never look at an old book the same way!
