PRINTMAKING: Block Printing on Fabric with Unconventional Objects
Printing patterns using found objects is a fun, simple and inexpensive introduction to block printing, with many applications. In this fun, three-hour workshop we’ll look at how to design repeat patterns, and learn simple inking and printing techniques. We’ll then explore printing with a wide variety of unconventional objects like glass dishes, punched tin, textured plastic, even fruits and vegetables. We’ll then blockprint patterns onto your choice of canvas remnants, tea towel or napkin blanks, or bandanas to create exciting, fresh, and unique decorated fabrics. Participants will leave with an appreciation of the fun and versatility of block printing, and some decorated fabric to use in any way they choose. All materials included. Attendees will proof their designs on paper before moving on to canvas, 3 canvas remnants will be provided. Additional blanks for napkins, bandanas and tea towels will be available for purchase in the $5 - $10 range. DATES & TIMES Sunday Nov 17 1:00pm-4:00pm YOUR TUTOR Leah Springate.
