INTRODUCTORY JEWELLERY - 3 DAY INTENSIVE WORKSHOP

This beginner intensive class introduces students to traditional jewellery making techniques over three full days. Fundamental skills such as sawing and piercing, forming, hammering, stamping, and soldering will be taught. Focusing on safety, a variety of specialized tools will be used, and correct studio practices will be explained. This course is a prerequisite for members open studio access to the jewelry studio. Students will make three learning pieces, a ring, earrings, and pendant with a cabochon set stone, then apply their skills to create a design of their own using their newfound metalsmithing skills. A material fee of $65 (+tax) will be due on the first day of the workshop, payable to the instructor by cash or etransfer. This includes 18 grams of silver and one cabachon stone. Extra silver or materials are available for purchase. Shannon has over 20 years experience with the craft since graduating from OCAD. She then studied metalsmithing at the George Brown College and then opened her business Cynosure Jewelry in 2004. For over 10 years Shannon has been a faculty member of the Jewellery Arts program at Haliburton School of Art and Design (HSAD).
