GRADIANT SOCK YARN DYEING

Learn to dye your own gradient or self-striping sock yarn in this 3-hour class. Each student will dye 450 yards of sock yarn (80% superwash wool, 20% nylon), using vibrant acid dyes. Multiple pre-mixed dye colours will be available to make your own unique designs. Safety, material sourcing, and dye recipes will be discussed. Additional yarn will be available for purchase upon request. Please wear closed toe shoes, long sleeves, and long pants. Wearing clothes you wouldn’t mind becoming stained is recommended. Please feel free to wear an apron to protect clothing. Please bring heavy-duty dishwashing gloves to protect your hands from contacting the dye. After completing a Master of Science degree in botany at the University of British Columbia, Christine earned a diploma in Jewellery Art and Design from Vancouver Community College. She now owns a jewellery business called Turritella Designs in Toronto. Christine is re-locating soon to Owen Sound! WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING A materials fee of $35 will be due at the beginning of the class, this fee covers 450 yards of yarn, dyes, fixatives and soap. This fee can be payed to the instructor upon arrival. Extra sock cloths of various sizes will be available for purchase should you decide to do more than one.
