GELLI PLATE PRINTING - NEXT STEPS

DESCRIPTION For students who have taken the 'Intro to Gelli Printing' course or individuals who have some experience with printing using a Gelli plate, this is the course for you. This full day of continuing exploration will; push you to add and subtract more layers, transfer layers back and forth using partial layers and clear transfer layers to build up more complex images, add collage layers made from your own prints and introduce more transfer mediums. Participants will work with multiple plates both large and small. This workshop is meant to cement the process in your mind and take away the confusion of how to manipulate multiple layers. DATES & TIMES SUN APRIL 6th 10am to 3pm YOUR TUTOR Leah Springate. Leah is a printmaker and book designer now living in Owen Sound. She graduated with honours from the Ontario College of Art where she specialized in Printmaking and Book Arts. After a 20-year career designing books at Penguin Random House Canada, she left to focus on producing her own work as co-proprietor of Mammoth Hall Press, a private printmaking and design studio. She has worked in many printmaking media including linocut and woodcut, etching and drypoint, screen-printing, cyanotype, and letterpress. Her work is held internationally in public and private collections.
