FUN WITH WATERCOLOURS
This workshop is designed for beginners who want to learn how to start watercolour painting. Cati will introduce 16 watercolour techniques, then participants will play with these techniques to create an abstract piece. Participants will also be led step-by-step through a small landscape painting. Finally, Cati will discuss what supplies students can purchase to get started working on their own creations. Cati's goal is to take the fear factor out of watercolour and make it fun for new artists! DATES & TIMES SUN NOV 3rd 10:00am to 3:00pm YOUR TUTOR Cati VanVeen Cati took her first watercolour course at the University of Guelph where she did her Bachelor of Fine Arts, many years ago! Her first experience was not great, she had painted extensively in acrylics and found that watercolour was very challenging. Later, with 3 young children, Cati was looking for a way to be creative that was quick and easily cleaned up. She went back to watercolour and discovered a way to enjoy it. Over the years she has painted many portraits and landscapes in this medium. As a high school art teacher she shared her skills and her techniques with hundreds of students. She learned how to teach the basic elements that anyone can build on and have fun with! Cati retired from teaching in 2023 and she has since opened a studio on her property where she has been happily painting many sunset scenes on slate tiles and, of course, watercolours!
