CARNIVOROUS HALLOWEEN TERRARIUM

Wednesday, October 30, 2024 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Cost: $45

Let's make a tiny, hungry terrarium! Carnivorous plants are a marvel of nature, and there is a common misconception that they are difficult to take care of! When the truth is, you just need to know what they want! Carnivorous plants do very well in a terrarium, and the humid environment within it certainly makes it a good place for these dewy beauties to live and grow. This class will be part design by choosing your elements and plants and part science (soil mixing and care... which includes how to feed your new plants!). We will be working with plants such as utricularia, drosera, pinguicula, and various mosses and liverworts. We will be choosing a glass vessel (less than 1 gallon) to create our little world! Feel free to bring your own, but vessels will be available to you for a small fee ($2-$5). The thrift store is a great place to find a potential terrarium if you'd like to choose your own. Soil mixture provided. Plants will be available for purchase from the instructor. This class is kid-friendly, for ages 8 and up! DATES & TIMES WED OCT 30th 6:00pm to 8:30pm YOUR TUTOR Kailey Lang. Kailey is primarily an illustrator, working mostly in watercolour and gouache. Since she has been small, however, she has also had a keen love of plants. Indoors, Kailey grows a variety of plants, from tropical philodendrons and carnivorous species, all the way to aquatic! WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING All materials included Plants and accessories will be available for purchase ACCESSIBILITY Wheelchair accessible
